A collision between a tug/barge and a pleasure boat on Sunday, June 10 near Kings Point, NY is being investigated by the U.S. Coast Guard. The 24-foot pleasure craft was capsized in the collision, and its three occupants had to be pulled out of the water by rescue crews. Two of the boaters are reported to be injured but in stable condition, and the third boater is reported to be in critical condition and on life support.
The cause of the crash is not likely related to weather conditions, as conditions at the time were reported at less than one-foot seas, less than five knots of wind and 10 nautical miles visibility.
