The Coast Guard rescued two men off the 60-foot tug Jahmon that was taking on water two miles west of Pine Island, in north Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., on June 11.
Mike Myers, 46, and Harry Register, 50 contacted the Coast Guard late in the morning to report that the engine room of their vessel had flooded and was beginning to take on water and list severely to the side. The two men had their life jackets on.
The tug Jahmon was reported to have 300-gallons of fuel on board. An unknown amount of fuel was reported to have leaked into the water. Sea Tow is booming off the vessel to keep the leaking fuel from spreading and will salvage the vessel.
If you have lost property or been injured because of a flooding such as this one, you may want to consider bringing a maritime claim. Contact experienced maritime lawyers Beard Stacey Trueb & Jacobsen LLP, or visit our website to learn about your rights under maritime law.
