A fisherman aboard the fishing vessel Earl Jay Conrad suffered head and neck injuries after falling 20 feet into the vessel's fish hold near Cape Charles, VA on June 20. Luckily, the Coast Guard was able to stabilize the injured man, and transported him to a landside hospital for further treatment.

Dangerous falls aboard fishing boats and other vessels can be caused by slippery floors, unsafe vessel design, and lack of handrails and other safety devices. If you have suffered an injury because of a fall at work aboard a vessel, you may be able to recover financial compensation under the Jones Act.

Beard Stacey Trueb & Jacobsen specializes in maritime personal injury law, and has handled many cases involving slips and falls on board vessels. In one case, Beard Stacey Trueb & Jacobsen represented a man who fell because of a handrail failure, which resulted in a back injury. This man was able to recover $1,000,000 dollars in damages. If you have been injured at sea, find out about your rights to compensation under maritime law by contacting Beard Stacey Trueb & Jacobsen or visiting our website.
