A sailor on the Alessandra Bottiglieri slipped and broke his leg while en route to Portugal, and had to be airlifted to Cape Cod for medical attention earlier today. Slips and falls aboard commercial vessels are a very common cause of injury, and often could have been prevented. Handrails and other safety devices are important to preventing serious injury at sea.
