Topic: Vessel Sinkings
A crewman aboard the tug SEA BORN was hospitalized yesterday when the tug sank in heavy weather. The vessel was moored at Terminal Five in Seattle when it sank around 10 P.M. The sunken tug began to drift underwater making salvage operations difficult. The SEA BORN is owned by Natural Resource Consultants (NRC), a Seattle based environmental response and cleanup contractor. Efforts are underway to raise the tug and recover 200 gallons of diesel to limit environmental damage. The Department of Ecology and U.S Coast Guard are participating in the cleanup process.
