The Coast Guard has reported that it is searching for a missing passenger from the Princess Cruise Line ship SAPPHIRE PRINCESS en route from Ketchikan Alaska. The woman was reported missing after she failed to leave the SAPPHIRE PRINCESS cruise ship as scheduled when it arrived in Vancouver. The crew of the SAPPHIRE PRINCESS have searched the cruise ship and found no signs of the passenger.
The Coast launched a jayhawk helicopter from Sitka Alaska, an HC-130 from Kodiak Alaska, and a life boat from Ketchikan, Alaska. Canadian authorities have also launched a search from Vancouver to 517 miles north to the Hecate Strait. The Search area begins in Ketchikan Alaska and runs 86 miles south.
