The Coast Guard has reported that it has suspended a search for a recreational diver missing in the San Juan Islands. According to the Coast Guard, the diver failed to surface from a group dive on Wednesday and the United States Coast Guard was contacted at around 3:15 p.m. The Coast Guard and San Juan County responded but a surface and air search failed to successfully locate the missing diver. The search spanned approximately 46 square nautical miles and five hours. The missing 40 year old diver is believed to have been an experienced diver with U.S. Navy diving experience.
